Code of Conduct

This covers anyone playing Army of Earth on an official server, using its chat, or taking part anywhere else the project runs, including the forums. It's short on purpose. Most of it comes down to not making the game worse for other people.

What we expect

• Play the match in front of you. Building a base, fighting, mining, defending. That's the game.
• Treat other players the way you'd want to be treated. That goes for teammates you've never met, opponents you're trying to beat, and newer players who don't know the ropes yet.
• Keep chat civil. The channels in the game reach your whole team, or the whole match, not just your friends.
• If you disagree with someone, or something has gone wrong, say so plainly. Don't escalate it into harassment.

What we don't tolerate

• Harassment, hate speech, or targeting someone over who they are.
• Cheating. That means modified clients, exploits, or anything that hands you information or an advantage the game isn't meant to give you.
• Deliberately exploiting a bug to ruin other players' matches. That's different from reporting the bug, which we actively want you to do.
• Impersonating another player, a moderator, or the project itself.
• Spamming chat, or using it to advertise something unrelated to the game.
• Sharing anyone's personal information without their consent.

Enforcement

Right now the only lever we have is your account. If someone's behaviour clearly crosses the line above, we can ban the account responsible. A banned account is refused at sign in, and if it's in a match at the time, it's removed from that match within about fifteen seconds.

We don't have a warning system, we can't mute someone as a punishment, and there's no formal appeals process yet. A ban is therefore a last resort, used deliberately, rather than something we reach for over a first offence or a borderline call.

If you'd rather not deal with someone at all, chat can be muted from Settings. There's also a separate "Child safety" toggle that turns off chat, the internet radio in the game, and the links out to the forums, all together.

Reporting something

There's no report button in the game yet. For now, raise anything that needs attention with whoever runs the server you're on, or on the forums. We know this is a gap, and it's one of the first things we want this policy to grow alongside.
